Tadalafil Strength Guide: 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg Explained
The strength question, not the timing question — and why those are actually two different decisions with tadalafil.
Tadalafil's strength range works differently than sildenafil's, because tadalafil is used in two genuinely different regimens — as-needed and daily — and the strengths split along that line rather than being a simple low-to-high ladder.
| Strength | Typical use pattern |
|---|---|
| 2.5–5mg | Lower-dose, taken daily — a separate regimen from as-needed dosing entirely, not "5mg of the 20mg product" |
| 10mg | Mid-range as-needed strength |
| 20mg | Full-strength as-needed dose — where Megalis 20 sits |
Why this isn't just "pick a bigger number"
Unlike sildenafil, where 25/50/100mg is roughly a single ladder of increasing as-needed strength, tadalafil's low-dose daily regimen isn't a weaker version of the as-needed product — it's a different way of taking the same drug, generally set up and monitored by a prescriber because daily dosing changes the ongoing exposure calculation. Megalis 20 is formulated for the as-needed use case specifically; it isn't meant to be split or adjusted into a daily-dose regimen.
If you want the as-needed approach, 20mg (Megalis 20) is the full-strength option, with lower as-needed strengths available depending on the listing. If you're interested in the daily low-dose approach instead, that's a different regimen better suited to prescriber involvement — see the Healthymale path.
Tadalafil's nitrate interaction window is longer than sildenafil's, given its longer duration of action. If you take nitrates or have cardiovascular disease, this matters more with tadalafil than with a shorter-acting option — talk to a doctor before ordering.
